Maybe that’s what our homeschool lacked: more interesting field trips! Not only does Lill know where all the best restaurants are; she’s a brilliant homeschooling mom who knows how to make the most of teachable moments. (Just don’t tell her that I did her daughter’s field trip report for her.)

About me
As an atheist – and former Christian homeschooling parent – I blog (mostly) about the social-political aspects of religious fundamentalism, especially as it impacts the education and socialization of children.

And where was the tarp alert, Missy? I’m sitting here completely covered in English Breakfast Decaffeinated and so is my keyboard, my printer and my cat!
You get an A on the report though. And you’ve just proved my point: I’m not hilarious, life is, and so are you.
Now I need another cup of tea and I have to apologize to my cat.
Apparently, we are frequenting the wrong restaurants.
I’m with Chris, Lill. What are we doing wrong? You obviously have a unique and valuable talent. Have you ever thought of writing for ZAGAT? You’re a natural – they may be hiring!!
And, please reassure your cat that tea (English Breakfast Decaffeinated, in particular) has been shown to restore vital nutrients and sheen to the fur of cats.
…
And, uhh,… not that it’s any of my business but,… you drink *decaffeinated* tea in the morning?? :) That’s interesting as it’s all about the caffeine here in SoCal. How else to make it to ladies’ boot camp for a vigorous early morning workout and still be back home in time to drive the kids to school? Or fit a 3-hour round-trip, bumper-to-bumper commute into your day? We’d probably even add it to the water supply if it wouldn’t mean cutting back on our frothy, mid-afternoon coffee drinks.
Well, seeing as how my morning commute is twelve steps downstairs to my computer cave, and driving to school only happens when Daughter and I get silly and make vroom-vroom noises on our way to the dining table or the living room, and caffeine aggravates the bejaysus out of my Rosacea and Fibrocysctic Breast Disease and my afternoon commute is a mile-long walk down our dirt road to the mailbox … Why am I saying all this?
Oh, right, that’s why it’s decaf. I don’t know about Zagat. It might depend on their guidelines for bread stick reviews. I’m kind of burnt out on restaurants at the moment.
My cat isn’t buying the “shiny fur” wheeze, but we’re friends again, although he’s still shying away from cup-shaped objects. I never realized how many of them there are in the average house, did you?
