I’m having trouble finding good links to this story, so I’ll just have to rely on what I’ve managed to piece together so far.
Here it is.
Glenn Beck really, really wanted Air Force fighters to fly over his Restoring Honor rally, but they couldn’t (or wouldn’t) do it. Of course, you know God. He’s such a character! He probably planned it this way all along. Did you hear what he did? Well, right before Beck began speaking, God directed a flock of geese to fly over the crowd. In V-formation. “V” for victory. Can you believe it? God is AWEsome!

I teared up when I saw these geese fly over. But then I thought, of all the birds in the world, why did God choose to send angels in the form of immigrating Canadian socialist geese? Is he mocking us? I mean don’t get me wrong, I am grateful and humbled to witness any of God’s miracles but a flock of bald eagles seems like it would have been a more appropriate choice.
If god was really on his game, it would have been a flock of bald eagles with little American flags in their beaks. With halos.
That would have been especially amazing, seeing as bald eagles don’t travel in flocks.
Two thoughts:
1) Where do eagles pack their second amendment heat when they fly?
2) Are they credible at estimating crowd size from the air, with their eagle eyes?
Silly COD, god can do anything that amuses him! How about a flock of mama grizzly bears dressed all in white, sobbing penitent man-tears for their country?
What does it mean? Geese flying in a “V” formation?!? And flying South at this particular time of year?!? What does it mean!?!

I thought I’d throw Sweet Pea’s comment into the mix. This morning, I was telling her the story and got to the part about the birds flying in a “V” formation (V for Victory) and she gives me this incredulous look. “What were they going to do? Fly in an “F” for FAIL?”

Sweet Pea is very smart, not confusing science and politics as public school is wont to cause — F for FAIL is the official Congressional formation, never found in nature where the fit rather than unfit are favored for survival. ;-)

I spent a couple years in NJ…the geese never migrate anymore. The place is knee-deep in goose shit.
Maybe that is really what the goose connection to Beck was.
Oh my gods! (Not that I have any, but still, it sounds exciting to say that.) I was awakened by geese flying north yesterday. I looked out and they were in an I formation. What could this mean? I don’t know whether to take it as a sign that I’m special, just like Glenn Beck, or assume that they’re alphabetically challenged. Why they were flying north from Maine at this time of year is a mystery to me, but much of life is.
