“Muslims have the same right to practice their religion as everyone else in this country.”
~Barack Obama
But Muslim isn’t a religion. It’s more like a nationality, way of life, or cult, whatever you want to call it. The Islams want become dominant and take over.
~Religious freedom Christian elites
And, uh, whadd’ya say we mosey o’er to the dictshonary?
- Islam - the religious faith of Muslims
- Muslim – an adherent of Islam

It’s more like a nationality, way of life, or cult, whatever you want to call it. [They] want become dominant and take over.
Um.
That sounds exactly like the fundamentalist Christians. So that means neither is a religion, or both are religions, indeed very much the same sort of religion, fighting to be the One Ring to rule us all . . .
1. Religion as a way of life?
For some reason, I’m remembering when James Dobson (Focus on the Family) interviewed Ted Bundy, who was exposed to soft-porn as a young teen. As Bundy and Dobson explain it, that early experience led to sexual torture and murder.
Bundy:
Do you suppose that religion, like pornography, can begin as a soft-core lifestyle choice, then degenerate into the consuming, deviant worldview that continually manifests itself in harmful ways?
;)
2. Religion as a nationality?
Have you heard David Barton’s latest professorial offerings on behalf of white Christian America?
3. Religion as a cult?
I’ve been playing with a post about “7 Mountains Mandate,” but the ideology sounds too frightening to be sufficiently widespread (to be worrisome). I am, however, having quite a number of deja vu moments, taking me back to days at Saddleback…
So the Islamicists are gay? And hated by the same Xtians. . . it all makes sense now.
Nance,
And the most anti-gay from both groups are secretly gay themselves? The assumption used to be a long
strokeshot, but recent public scandals seem to indicate a connection.btw,
Guess what stands at Ground Zero of the Salem Witch Trials? Yep, it’s a Christian church. What an insult. Building a Christian church at the site where descendants of the witch-killing terrorists can gloat about the murders? It’d be like setting up witch covens in… San Francisco? Okay, not the best analogy, but better than Newt’s, I suppose.
Witch covens with Newt? How Shakespearian . . . I’m not a witch nor a witch-killing terrorist witch but I can conjure up power of story with the best of them. Did you know for example, that “eye of Newt” has two purposes in Runescape? — 1) attack potions and 2) making money! Sounds like the unauthorized biography of the Newt in our little drama . . .
But if I were to write a metaphorical post on Newt, I’d probably open with this lol:
Declining popularity of eye of newt? Maybe the “coins” are gold coins, like the ones they peddle at FOX,… home of grand exchanges.
Sadly, Obamaism doesn’t seem to be a feature of Runescape, as free market competition (“Magic and Herblore stores”) seems to be thriving and keeping the price of newt low. (For newt’s sake, I just hope Sam Walton doesn’t show up.)
I like that eye of newt is used to make “Attack potions” and “Super Attack potions.” It’s also needed for “Recipe for Disaster” quests – and the “Creature Creation” activity, “along with a chicken feather.” LMAO
Thanks for sharing. :)
Right now on MSNBC a female “Muslim leader” is speaking in accented English to say that she can’t make a decision about whether the mosque/center should go forward without knowing all about its funding sources, etc.
WTF?? Is THAT something all fundamentalist megachurches are now suddenly advocating must be provided to the public? We’re down the rabbit hole now, Alice . . .
In other news, the newt’s eye view is that the imam in question is some wild-eyed radical so THAT justifies abridging the freedom of religion. Pass the blue pills to every voter then, I’m for it! But I’m starting with the Christian churches. And the mosque/center meanwhile can be built anyway, because according to the NYT today, this particular imam leads a church that sounds like the Muslim equivalent of UUs. They love everybody and are ecumenical, not fundamentalist at all:
So hallelujah, praise Alla-, um I mean praise the Lor-, oh you know what I mean . . .sounds like Newt, Sarah and Sharron are the only wild-eyed radical fundamentalists in this story. Maybe then just as they demand, it’s finally time to stop them! — out of respect for the rest of America.
Speaking of stopping Sarah, Lynn — just heard that Emily’s List has a new group you and I might want to check out: Sarah doesn’t speak for me,
And Lynn? There’s vid-e-o! ;-)
LOL ~ You gotta love a Mama Grizzly in pearls. Better to wear them than throw them before swine, you know. :)
I’d love to see more of that sentiment among sensible women: “Sarah, don’t mess with us.” And, “that goes for you, too, Michele and Sharron.”
You’ve written such interesting comments both here and at your blog on the topic of the so-called “Ground Zero Mosque.” Unfortunately, I’ve been running around all day and haven’t had a chance to think about it yet.
Better to wear them than throw them before swine
Even in your mad back-to-school rush, you keep up the standard! Admiringly, JJ
Of course, the ‘witches’ in Salem weren’t witches at all. I’m descended from one of them. After her wealthy husband died, she remarried. A man who was her indentured servant. Her sons hated the idea of the land somehow going to her husband, so they conspired with the ‘afflicted girls’ in declaring her a witch. I’m proud to say that she was the only accused not to point fingers at others, just to say, no, I’m not a witch. I’m a Christian. So she would be happy about the church. And I suspect most of the other witches would, too. Because they weren’t really witches.
Of course, being proud of her means also admitting that one of those sons, who sold out his mother, which led to her death, is also an ancestor of mine. Bummer.
No, not really witches. They were innocent victims of monstrous inhumanity as were Ground Zero fallen; in both cases the murdering terrorists really were witch-hunters warped and twisted by their own very sick sense of religious superiority over lesser humans. “Christian” fundamentalists are just as susceptible to terrorist twisting as any other zealots and no more justified than the village of Muslims who really did stone a young couple to death this week.
Terrorists can and do twist any church to their evil end and smug-in-majority American Christians with motes in their own twisted beliefs who can’t see and won’t acknowledge domestic examples all around us, are on the wrong side of Good and Evil, helping the witch-hunters win.
Did you realize btw, that Sarah Palin’s personal religion really is witch-hunting? With real “spiritual warfare” against problematic individuals and evil zip codes, with real persecution and real beatings, burnings and real rewards for the dominant winners? Against innocent victims who also OF COURSE aren’t actually witches.
The movement’s fixation on demons, its aggressiveness and its leaders’ claims to exalted spiritual authority have troubled even some Pentecostal Christians.
Of course they weren’t witches. There is no such thing. Not in the magical powers sense, at any rate.
Nance,
I don’t believe in magical powers either, so it’s odd that some seem to find my blog by way of searches related to witches, demons and angels. Actually, just today, someone found me by way of the google search term, “witch torcher painting” :?
From 2 years ago, here’s witch torcher torture.
There are also hits by way of Boyce and Boice searches.
And, just recently, when we were talking about (teacher) certification, I remembered this one about “certified” guardian angel practitioners.
Lynn, I can’t figure out if you falling into all this specialized attention in your specialized field of commentary should be in the vernacular, a curse or blessing lol . . .
As long as they don’t know where I live,… :)
Did anybody see this eBay auction?
There have been 23 buyers (so far) – and the seller has a 99.8% positive feedback rating!
Well, if the “witch” looks like the one being burned at the stake, I imagine there is plenty of “tingling” going on.
