It’s at times like these that I don’t regret my lack of interest in sports.
Actually, we have been invited to a Super Bowl party tomorrow and, for a milli-second, I entertained the thought of showing up with one of these. For fun, you know. Of course, I have no idea who will be there (there = somebody else’s home), so I’ll have to just post the links for others. :)
MILWAUKEE, WI, February 5, 2010… To demonstrate support for the message of an issue ad to be aired during Sunday’s CBS broadcast of the Super Bowl, a Wisconsin pro-life group is urging spectators at the game and viewers at home to wear a Tim Tebow mask to show their appreciation for life and strong family values.

What’s a Super Bowl?

Tim Tebow: The Boy Who Lived
Love, Gator JJ
[...] What lessons are being taught in our living rooms, not by individual homeschooling parents or great literary characters like the Boy Who Lived but by corporate-controlled televised sports, and is it sacred business, serious business, or funny business (if business has any business teaching any of us any of it?) Our best entertainers and artists in any era help us conjure our own Patronus against the universally human fear of the dark. [...]
Audrey:
Lol – Well, I wasn’t sure how to answer your question, so I googled it. This is my favorite answer:
On Super Bowl Sunday, everything shuts down, just like it does on Christmas Day,… only you drink beer instead of eggnog, and spend the afternoon with friends instead of extended family. Snacks play a very big role (we’re bringing chicken wings, for example) – and, because the event is such a widely-viewed TV event, the network rakes in big bucks for advertising spots. (The 30-second Tebow ad cost tax-exempt Focus on the Family $2.5 million.)
So, anybody, how’d I do??? :D
Or, does the… ;) …mean you already knew? :)
It is amazing. How it takes over everything. The snacks are the only good part! :)
BTW, DH says he will wear the mask but will edit the message. I cannot post his message here, on this civilized site. :)

So on a positive side, the fundies are wasting $2.5 million for a 30 second commercial that will have no impact at all on the issues.
It’s like any other ad, not to mention buying a politician. You wouldn’t spend the money if you didn’t get the impact you thought was worth it . . .
Yes, Lynn… the ;) was me being cheeky. I did grow up down South. Although, I’m spending this Sunday evening at the Family Bonspiel.
That’s curling for all you Yanks. Wish us luck! It’s my ds’s first time to compete. He’s pretty good for a 10 year old. He could be a future Briars champion even! Good thing I didn’t abort him, eh?
LMAO, Audrey!
LMAO, too :)
Regarding the commercial, I heard that CBS had an active, collaborative role in writing the ad with Focus On The Family. Anybody else hear that? Assuming it’s true and on the bright side, the “mainstream media” has obviously shed it’s “left-wing bias,” so there’s no longer a [cough] need for Fox “fair and balanced” News. I love silver linings.
Nance:
LoL. Oh, come on. Must we beg?
I saw the commercial, and here is my opinion of it —
1. had you not known about it before hand, doubtful you would have thought much of it.
2. My first reaction was: “That was it?”
3. My second reaction was: “Good grief, if one of my boys tackled me like that they better be believing in miracles!”
4. and my overall reaction definitely had to do with the 2.5 million that was spent on this, when it could have been spent, IMGAHO, on something else, like even some people’s mortgage payments…
But, alas, my sister argued it’s a free country…so …
Whatever.
( Gator Fan here with nothing against Tim Tebow)
Hi Miss Roxie, :)
I’ve been wondering, “That was it?,” too. The very short spot right at the beginning of the game, right? It was so noisy where I was that I wasn’t able to hear it – and I missed the majority of other ads that followed. I guess I’ll have to rely on you folks to fill me in. :)
btw, Miss Roxie, IMGAHO is new to me. I’m guessing, “In my (something – something) humble opinion.” :)
…in my god awful humble opinion?
…in my generally average humble opinion?
…in my Georgian (GA) humble opinion?
I give up… LoL :)

LOL~!!
IMGAHO – In my good and humble opinion —
I have been rereading Pride and Prejudice. :) — Elizabeth Bennett is always razzing Mr. Darcy about his “good opinion” …(I guess I need to interject here that I live in my own little bubble? It’s lovely there. )
“I give up… LoL :)” say you
Oh, don’t ever! LOL.
Here, Lynn, crank up your computer volume and study every syllable!
Tebow Focus on the Family Superbowl ad
For ease of viewing, the Tebow ad was in first quarter and the fabulous Google ad (our family’s unanimous favorite as celebrating family, life and learning too!) was called “Search On” airing in the third quarter.
Thanks for the handy link to the commercials, JJ.
Now to search on for “Search On.” :)
