Nance:

Kids this age often already think all adults are idiots.

I understand how difficult and rude some kids are and I know that there are teachers like Meg who are doing a great job; I just don't get why some teachers seem to go out of their way to drive this wedge. My daughter started school this year as a blank slate and ideal student: highly motivated to participate and learn and do her best. So far, she has maintained a positive attitude -- in spite of some of her teachers. :/

Michelle:

I had that happen to me a few times in high school.

Enforced naps in high school? I may have actually liked that. :) The only naps I ever took were voluntary, in 4th period Geometry (right after lunch).

Do the schools just go out of their way to look stupid? Kids this age often already think all adults are idiots. Do the administrators and teachers have to prove it?

ah shucks.

Her sub is allowed to turn off all the lights??

There's only a few strict rules that I have to follow as a sub and one is that I am NEVER allowed to turn off all the lights.

Even if I'm playing a movie, I have to leave at least some on.

It drives the kids nuts and I've gone to extremes to toe the line, but cut the glare.
