Thanks to Mikey Weinstein’s tireless work, the Military Religious Freedom Foundation has been nominated for the 2010 Nobel Peace Prize!
Excerpted from the Announcement:
Since its founding in 2005, the MRFF has become the undisputed national and international leader in the civil rights movement to restore the severely fractured wall between church and state in the United States military and to stop the ill effects of noxious religious discrimination both domestically and abroad. The growing organization currently has over 15,000 constituent clients from today’s American active duty military, amazingly most of them practicing Christians. MRFF has also fought aggressively for the Constitutional rights of United States service members who are Jews, Muslims, Buddhists, Hindus, Sikhs, atheists, agnostics and other religious minorities, and to stop the unbridled proselytizing of Afghans, Iraqis, Pakistanis and other foreign nationals by the U.S. military.

I can just imagine the hew and cry that will issue forth from the fundy camp. I’ll bet a C-note on “sign of the end times” as the leading wail.
Btw… The Coulter quote made me throw up in my mouth a little.
LOL. Thank you, Audrey! :) Earlier today, while browsing the internet for something completely different, I stumbled upon a photograph that made me go “Ewww.” It’s funny, the whole time I was saving a copy, I was thinking, when will I ever have a use for this??
Folks, I hate to break it to you, but the Nobel Committee doesn’t release the names of nominees. So, with all humility, I must now acknowledge that a “foreign person” has formally nominated me for the Nobel Prize. You can read about it in fifty (50) years. In other news, the MRFF has successfully done …nothing. Nada. Zip. Squat. Rien. Nichts. Jack s**t. F**k all. Weinstein. He has annoyed some people, though.
Here at the Watch, we are not taking MRFF’s own press release as substantiation for this “nomination.” Since the Nobel organisation keeps its records secret for fifty years, the Weinstein claim cannot be authenticated. Weinstein’s actions have clearly been taken only against Christians; thus the MRFF cannot seriously be considered a civil rights proponent, but is perilously close to designation as a hate group.
I didn’t realize Ann Coulter was a vampire in the Twilight movie.
MRFF Watch:
Hmm. I wonder why that is? Could it be that the military is not overrun with dominionists representing other religions?
By the way, since you’re “watching” MRFF, you must know that most of the military personnel that they represent are Christian. Or, is that a lie, too?
COD:
Goodness, I’ve never been happier to be given a spoiler alert! Phew! :P
“Most of the people they represent” are profoundly disillusioned. MRFF’s original principles were praiseworthy, but as it became apparent that the foundation’s true function was to grind Weinstein’s personal axes against Christians while providing him additional income and tax cover as a 501(c)3, supporters fled. For example, as we monitor Weinstein’s website, we find that his recent activity has been personal–to try to punish via the legal system those who don’t agree with his anti-Christian beliefs. Disappointed former MRFF supporters have written to complain about botched promised assistance and an overwhelming bias against Christians. There is simply no other effort going on at MRFF, according to reports.
Who is MRFF Watch who is commenting here, and where is their link to a website to let us know who and what they are?
MRFF Watch wrote: “Most of the people they represent” are profoundly disillusioned.
So, all those christians don’t qualify as True Christians™ , eh?
Nice try, Sam. We keep our contacts confidential, to prevent Weinstein retribution and avoid lawsuits of the frivolous kind you can read about on the MRFF website. Audrey, I recommend you talk to some of the “Christian” members of MRFF and see whether they’ve been helped or hindered. There are all kinds of Christians. Read the Nicene Creed–that’s generally what these people believe.
What a weird moment. I was going to reply with full snark to a reply that came in my in-box (’cause I’m subscribed to this post) but thank you Lynn for having cleared that up already.
I did have to check, but nope… I haven’t become a 50/60-something Jewish lawyer, nor grown a dick in the past 12 hours.
Thank Gord and Praise Cheesus! LOL!
Hi Audrey,
The reason your comment didn’t go right through is because I have comment moderation on for now :) Odd, the only other time I’ve had this problem is when I posted about another Jewish man, Elie Wiesel. Close to three years of blogging, 893 posts…
p.s. I’m happy to hear about what didn’t happen to you during the past 12 hours. :)
No problem Lynn. I am a witch with a blog. I’ve had the occasional troop of whackadoodles at my place, too. :)
Maybe Mystery Watch and Shoot From the Shadows Creep (MWSSC) will be sending a pimp and prostitute to set up Mikey, with FOX News video cameras and some armed and dangerous teabaggers in tow?
Just reading about the latest “vile, hateful, threatening email received by Mikey Weinstein of the Military Religious Freedom Foundation” at Dispatches From The Culture Wars and I noticed a familiar name :)

Wow, Chappy… you really get around. I’m guessing you have a Google alert set for Mikey and/or MRFF? I saw you signed up at HuffPo just to make a comment on my last post there, and read your identical comment on a post at the Examiner.
Since any emails you might have from Mikey would have been in response to a particularly vile email from someone else (like your “buddy”), we, of course, would have the email Mikey was responding to in our files, so any implication that Mikey sends out unprovoked “hateful” emails just ain’t gonna work.

Is Chappy @ 13 a sock pocket for the disgraced and dishonored Gordon Klingenschmitt? Mr. Klingenschmitt was appropriately called-out as a disgrace to the uniform and correctly booted-out of the services for appearing at a political rally in uniform in spite of knowing it was against regulations. He fantasizes about the public becoming endeared with him and calling him “Chaps” in spite of the dishonor he brought to the uniform and his attack and complete disrespect for other soldiers’ individual religious freedom rights.
In addition, Mr. Weinstein exemplifies bravery by challenging the military to obey their oath to defend the Constitution and the rights of their soldiers by enabling and defending the religious freedom rights of every individual in the military. “Hissy” is evidence once again of a conservative projecting their own qualities onto an opponent, one too cowardly to even use his full name to sign off on his comment.

Chappy is definitely a sock puppet for someone. He’ll eventually say something that gives away who he is. They always do.

So here’s how Weinstein & Co. deal with college students who disagree with them via email: “My family and I have the facts and the personal experiences AND countless more months (in fact 75 more years) at USAFA and in the Air Force than you do, SMACK.” Somehow I don’t think SMACK is a very friendly term. At least that one wasn’t profane. Pretty convincing argument, don’t you think? Very respectful and conciliatory.

By the way, folks, a poster on another site outed Chris Rodda as the Minister of Propaganda… err, I mean the Senior Research Director, at MRFF. And just who is Gary North and why are we so afraid of him?

Wait, people didn’t know that Chris Rodda is the Senior Research Director for MRFF? Because that fact has been common knowledge around here for a while, so there’s no “outing” necessary (unless you’re in the mood for a camping trip).

MO – really? Explain to me how it’s hummus recipe.
Oooh ‘Chappy’ – don’t keep us on tenterhooks. Pray tell us who won the Battle of Hastings (and other ‘breaking’ news). – DJ

Chappy @ 26 is quoting an e-mail exchange about the film Constantine’s Sword that MRFF actually published in one of our “Weekly Watch” newsletters.
The e-mail Chappy quotes was written by Mikey’s daughter-in-law (also an Air Force Academy graduate), and “SMACK” is an acronym, the explanation of which was in parentheses in the email: “…SMACK (*S*oldier *M*inus *A*bility *C*ourage and *K*nowledge – just in case they don’t teach you kids that anymore).”
Apparently, Chappy is actually stupid enough to try to make Mikey look threatening by using an email that I would recognize as written by his daughter-in-law that’s published on our website.
You can read the whole email exchange here:

This is too funny! The “poster on another site” that Chappy says “outed” me was … ummm … Chappy.

Chappy:
You sound like exactly the sort of asshole that would find an authoritative Daddy religion quite attractive. What is it with you Bondage and Dominionism types, anyway? Can’t you just ask your wives to tie you up and beat you oncet in a while? Do you really need to have your asses handed to you on the blogs in order to feel like good “subs”?

Are you kidding me, Chappy? You accuse someone of sending out “vile, hateful emails” and the best you produce is one containing the word “SMACK”?
As for Gary North, if only there some way you could get information about him.

That’s it? He said “smack” to someone? Wow, how….hateful. Look, Mikey is a pit bull and I have no doubt he’s written some very harshly worded emails to people at times. What he has not done, I’m quite sure, is threaten to kill anyone, yet he receives death threats all the time aimed at him and his family. I’m also quite sure he’s never vandalized anyone’s home, yet his home has had windows broken out, swastikas painted on the outside and more.
Wow, someone outed her as MRFF’s Senior Research Director? I bet that took a crackerjack team of investigators, especially since she signs her emails with that title and uses it in her bios all over the internet and has been identified by that title a mere few thousand times over the last couple years. Nothing gets past you folks, does it?

And, I stopped reading…
All right! I’ve got another bunch of screaming moonbats to give up defending the indefensible Weinstein fraud and start attacking me! My work here is done. Peace out.
Don’t flatter yourself.
And, Weinstein doesn’t need defending. At great personal sacrifice, he initiated the ongoing process of rooting crazed Christian Crusader moonbats from the military, for which the country – and the world – owes him a debt of gratitude. Thank you, Mr. Weinstein. :)
I love the far right wingnut mindset that allows you to feel confident and secure in saying whatever you want while calling an attack any request to confirm with factual evidence your point of view.
Btw, check out tomorrow’s NYT book review for the libertarian arrogant rage of the Ayn Rand cult as it resurges among the wingnuts:
Ayn Rand’s Revenge
sam: “I love the far right wingnut mindset …”
And, all it really does is affirm the work of one’s opponents – in this case, Weinstein’s. Oops.

Hey, I think my next congratulatory post should be on Barry Lynn!

♫ ♫ I like sex and …. candy. ♫ ♫
Is it me or does this Chappy fellow strike anyone else as needing a date? Really. Something to take the edge off and get him on track to enjoying life.
Or a hobby? Other than chasing around the intertubes spewing hate.
Audrey, maybe you have a spell you could cast on poor Mr. C? To jolly him up a bit.
After you have finished destroying America’s youth, of course. :)

and when she’s not drinking blood and howling at the moon. :)
And, here I thought that it was only vampires and Catholics that drink blood. I learn something new every day.
It is true. The candy has been cursed. I can feel my thighs expanding as I type (with one hand, butterfinger in the other) so it must be some sort of curse!
Audrey, maybe you have a spell you could cast on poor Mr. C? To jolly him up a bit.
Sure do! I just need 2 male prostitutes, a fresh batch of meth, a pair of red leather stilleto boots and Chappy’s credit card.
It’s the same spell I did for Ted Haggard, and that one worked out great, don’t you think?
