Okay, you’re up-to-date now. Back to your merry-making.

It’s kind of funny that Happy HOLY-days is somehow considered a meaningless and unchristian thing to say. Didn’t the term come from the fact that the Catholic church used to forbid people from working on holy days of obligation so they could have time to reflect?

Hi Rolfe,
re: Happy HOLY-days and holy days of obligation
Hey, I never knew that. I just mentioned it to my (ex-Catholic) husband and he said that the “forbidding people to work” part doesn’t sound like the Catholic Church he knew growing up :) Of course, he’s already upstairs working, so that work ethic training served him well; in stark contrast, I (deprived of good religious training) am downstairs, goofing off, blogging :)
Thanks for solstice wishes. I never did decide which holiday to celebrate this year. (More evidence of my lack of resolve and self-discipline!)
Have a wonderful Christmas :)
