It’s happened again. I’ve been asked by people why I celebrate Christmas, when I’m not a believer.
…
I was told before, that I really shouldn’t celebrate Christmas… I shouldn’t even have the right to celebrate it. What makes people say that? And what does it matter to them? Do they sit at home Christmas Eve with their loved ones and think “What a wonderful Christmas this is, but it would be even better, if Ute didn’t celebrate it.”?? How do they turn it into their business, what I do, and why, and when?
Afterthought: At least they’re not fining us five shillings for “Christmas-keeping” as Puritans did in 17th-century Massachusetts. Whew. What a blessing.

It’s not that they’re against us, they just want everybody to be clear we’re not part of their team so there’s no um, confusion. Homeschoolers of all people should get this by now: Dwarfing Pluto and Shrinking Ourselves.
Humbug.
Hi there! I found you via Evolveintobirds. I don’t celebrate Christ’s birth. Who would even believe his mom was a virgin? It wasn’t his birthday anyway.
The best description for “The Season” for us is good will, joy and love …with a little generosity if we can afford it this year.
The most judgemental people I know are Christians. They think it’s their job or so it seems to me.
I couldn’t help but notice all the ugliness that Black Friday brought out in people. They can have all that stuff from China at Wal-Mart, I’m not going to fight anyone for any of it!
I’m going to go back and read some more of your posts.
I like what I’ve read so far.

JJ,
You’ve reminded of Molly’s post today:

Traceytreasure,
Welcome. Michelle still stops in on occasion too :)
My daughter and I just watched a program on the history of Christmas. It’s an astonishing mish-mash of mostly pagan traditions. IMHO? There is NO “reason for the season” other than that which we decide for ourselves.
Hi JJ,
When I click the link to your post (“Dwarfing Pluto), I get the FORBIDDEN – ACCESS DENIED error message so, of course, now I’m even MORE intrigued – LOL :D
Weird, Lynn. I just clicked it here and it went right through. But I’m a blogger there so — could someone else reading try it and report if it works, so we can figure this out?
It’s one of my favorites so I think you’ll like it. But wow, RedMolly’s piece is amazing! Seriously, an instant classic. So if you never get to read mine, it won’t retard your understand of the ultimate truths involved too much. :)
Oh, I didn’t even see this post until just now. :)
LOL, the number of clicks on my blog significantly increased on December 1st, when you posted this.
