Robert Novak is reporting that, last Tuesday, Mike Huckabee attended a fundraising luncheon for him at the home of Christian Reconstructionist Steven Hotze. (Many Christian Reconstructionists argue that it’s the duty of True Christians to take control of the government, set up a Christian theocracy and exercise dominion over all believers and non-believers alike.)
According to TheocracyWatch and others, Steven Hotze is involved with the National Coordinating Council (NCC), a political arm of the theocratic Coalition on Revival (COR). COR/ NCC proposes to “Christianize” America, in part by taking over government beginning with county councils and county sheriff’s offices.
From the COR website:
We affirm that the Bible is not only God’s statements to us regarding religion, salvation, eternity, and righteousness, but also the final measurement and depository of certain fundamental facts of reality and basic principles that God wants all mankind to know in the sphere of law, government, economics, business, education, arts and communication, medicine, psychology, and science. All theories and practices of these spheres of life are only true, right, and realistic to the degree that they agree with the Bible. In each nation, one side or the other must win and become the dominant force in society. We in the COR orbit believe that the overriding issue underlying all present battles in politics, law, conomics, education, communications, ethics, religion and family life is this foundational question: “Which law-base will govern the nations of the world—a biblical one, or an anti-biblical one?” Those are our only two options, and those Christian leaders and followers who hope against hope that there is some neutral ground between those two options where it is philosophically and politically safe to hide, are living in a naive, fairy-tale world of wishful thinking. Such leaders cannot offer solutions to our present problems or guidance to a Church which has generally lost its way.
Also, one among the members of the fundraiser’s host committee was Rick Scarborough, self-described Christocrat; outspoken opponent of the HPV vaccine which improperly interferes with God’s punishment of sexual sin; and founder of Vision America, “Restoring the Original American Vision.”
While Novak makes the point that many conservative Christians (and southern baptists, in particular), concerned that Huckabee has been too lukewarm on their key issues, have been slow to jump on the Huckabee bandwagon. Others have found it unsettling and disturbing that he is being given much-needed funds by such scary people.
Is he one of them?

Huckabye? Huckabee wants to have adulterers, homosexuals and rape victims stoned to death. He also wants to make alcohol and music videos illegal, and make women 2nd class citizens and to take all girls out of school.
Oops, my bad, that’s another ‘religion’.
